Capoeira (Week 4)
28 September 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm£5.00
Latin America Arts & Culture Community UK (LA-ACC) & Capoeira Natural Do Brasil, supported by Exeter Community Together (ECT) invites you to come and try Capoeira with us as part of our twelve-week Brazilian Culture Course.
Have you seen Capoeira and like the look of it but thought to yourself that you could never do it? That you aren’t fit enough, aren’t flexible enough, are too old, or are nervous to try something new..something that involves a bit of singing?!
Well, you don’t need to…Capoeira is for EVERYONE!!
Don’t let your worries stop you from trying this fun, active, social, and confidence-boosting art form. We provide an easy-to-follow 12-week programme that will introduce you to the basics of Capoeira in a supportive environment led by Brazilian teacher, Contramestre Anjo.
Not only is this a great opportunity to discover if Capoeira is for you but it is an amazing opportunity to meet others also starting their Capoeira journey.
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form, created by African slaves in Brazil, during the Portuguese colonisation. Africans were not allowed to practice their traditional martial arts; therefore they created Capoeira, a martial art disguised as a dance. Capoeira combines physical (aerobatics, martial art, and dance), musical (drumming and singing), and philosophical elements.
In a typical Capoeira class, students will be given the opportunity to learn the basics of all these movements.
Age: 12 years to adults
Price: £5pp for members of LA-ACC or £55 for the full 12-week course if paid in advance
